Over the last 12 months, we’ve all watched AI explode. I’ll never forget my first eye-opening webinar about maximizing AI’s potential (shout out Alison J Prince!) – it literally blew my mind, and I dove right in to experiment.
But as months passed, watching AI seep into basically everything I was doing, I’ve had to step back and reflect.
The reality?
AI can replace many current jobs, and that’s shifted my focus to future-proofing my career.
What does that look like?
So for me – one of the things that I’m amazing at, is project management and follow through. I love being in the nitty gritty details of Infusionsoft campaigns and making things work, flow and automate as they should. All of that can definitely be automated.
Will it work flawlessly with out a human thinker of outcomes etc?
Probably not.
But at what point do people decide its “ok” if automations don’t trigger right all the time and just go with it – because it’s free or cheap. (the probability is pretty high).
So here I am, walking this tightrope – learning to use AI to enhance my work while ensuring I don’t automate myself out of a job. It’s been quite the journey of self-reflection, but growth is always good.
As you go foward remember: we are “capABLE.” We just need to adapt for the current times.
Here’s a quick framework for you to consider as you move forward:
A – Assess
- Audit your daily tasks list for automation risk
- What do I do that can be automated?
- What do I do that absolutely requires me, or my brain? Double down on this second question – does it REALLY require me or my time or can it to be automated?
- Analyze all the AI capabilities in your field of expertice
- Anticipate upcoming industry changes
B – Build the Bridge
- Build AI-human workflows (pick one repetitive task and build a workflow combining AI’s efficiency with your oversight)
- Blend technical and soft skills (find the BALANCE between AI + Your Emotional intelligence)
L – Learn all you can
- Latest AI developments – Stay on top of the up and coming AI. Don’t shy away from testing and learning something new each week.
- Leadership skills – It’s hard to replace leaders with AI. So stay on top of your field of knowledge. Be a thought leader!
- Lateral thinking abilities
E – Evolve
- Enhance unique human skills (what can you do that AI can not?)
- Expand professional network – Keep connecting with new people each week
- Experiment with new roles – Maybe it’s time for a complete and different career path? Always keep your mind open, there are so many opportunites.
