“Release, Release, Release…” as Brendon Burchard likes to say.

This is a phrase on repeat in my head this week.

It’s so so interesting to me that when you leave a job or a position, the daily grind or hustle that was SO IMPORTANT yesterday is abolutely irrelevant today.

No matter what role you were playing…

What was so important yesterday,
is absolutely irrelevant today.

I have a friend who’s been in merchandising for a certain set of home improvement stores for years. She was long past retirement age but kept going because she is important in her position, and they need her experience. I watched her over the years get a little aggravated as younger, less experienced people came and started changing things up.

She kept on, getting up crazy hours week after week, hustling well into her 70’s. Learning new programs, new ways of doing things, and making sure not to mess up on her hours, milages or new programs.

I ran into her this morning and she finally retired.

Release.

Guess what. That business kept on keeping on. They were just fine without her.

Changes incoming...

Last month, I too left my position in a job I’ve held for the past 4+ years, right after I was promoted to Chief Operations Officer.

It doesn’t make sense.

the timing could NOT have been worse.

I had to go.

I was in a pressure cooker, no longer able to distinguish between healthy/unhealthy boundaries.

No longer able to wake up refreshed, energized, ready to take on the world.

No longer performing my best work.

No longer thriving

Everything black and white.

No color in my world.

So I pulled the plug.

Have you ever watch a pressure cooker release steam?

It’s kinda fun… Takes awhile.

Release. (deep breath)

Release… (deep breath)

Release… (deep breath)

This is on repeat in my head these days. Just let it all go.

What's next?

As I move forward, I’ll be working on some of my own passion projects, something I’ve had in the works for years, designing an environment that helps people who want to learn how to work online or remotely.

Wish me luck!
